American Constitution Society Presents: Progressive Federalism
Start Date: 9/7/2013Start Time: 11:00 AM
End Date: 9/7/2013End Time: 6:00 PM

Event Description:
This is an event about progressive federalism. Chicago-Kent's American Constitution Society is holding an event featuring the American Legislative and Issue Campaign Exchange (ALICE) and others to discuss the recent legislative activism of ALEC--concerning issues such as the "stand your ground" law in Florida--and the recent Progressive foray into federalist legislative advocacy. The program will start at 11:30, after coffee and bagels are provided. Starting things off, ALICE's founder Joel Rogers will give a 45 minute introduction to progressive federalism. Then, after lunch, a panel will discuss ALEC, followed by another panel that will discuss recent progressive legislative advocacy--such as the success of Chicago-Kent Alum Chris Williams in getting the Temp Worker Law passed in Illinois. The program will end with an appeal from ALICE to interested parties for them to get involved with the work that ALICE does. It is our hope that this event can become certified as a CLE program; however, we have not received confirmation for CLE credit at this time. RSVP at
